Due to the increasing production of blueberries, grading and sizing machines were imported from Lakewood Manufacturing in Holland Michigan. After some prodding, our sizing machine became the first ever designed to separate blueberries into four sizes. At the same time it can process up six 6 tones per hour.

Another addition to the farm were Italian double gas cannons. The use of this device is most effective in keeping large swarms of  Red Winged Starlings Onychognathus morio at bay during peak harvest.

In an attempt to lessen the usage of  gas cannons, a canopy of bird control tape supplied by Berry Hill Irrigation, Inc. in Virginia, was set up over the fields. This proved successful for a period of time, but towards the end of harvest the cannons found themselves at work again.

Seen here are images of our first cold room installation.
