Franschhoek is a valley situated just a short 86
kilometer drive from Cape Town and positioned in the heart of Africa's wine country.
The area is part of a very specific and unique coastal micro climate, that
allows our berries to excel.

The first farm in the valley was granted to Swiss colonist
Henrich Ṃller in 1692.
Back then, the area was home to herds of elephants and referred
to as Oliphantshoek, or "Elephants Corner". In 1694, ten more farms were
granted, nine to French Huguenot's and one to a Prussian family. By 1713
the valley was being referred to as "de France Hoek", or "the French corner". In
1805 "Franschhoek" became official, while the valleys elephants were all but
extinct.
