It was produced for the government of the Union of South Africa with the aim of educating visitors to the country about tribal migration, customs and the various peoples of South Africa. In excess of half the pages are illustrated by Barbara Tyrrell who captured the vanishing traditions of Southern Africa.

 

Signed by the author - Hamba Kahle - which in Zulu means; Go Well.
